Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Political demonstrations could make a comeback as Azimio leader Raila Odinga meets Opposition MPs on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Raila had earlier announced plans to hold a series of rallies in his political bases- Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu and Kakamega- in support of the four IEBC commissioners facing ouster.<\/p>\n

Raila together with Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and Wiper\u2019s Kalonzo Musyoka will be meeting Azimio legislators at Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka Centre in Nairobi on Tuesday morning to plot the way forward for the Opposition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe leadership of Azimio invites you to an important Parliamentary Group meeting to be held at SKM Centre in Karen, Nairobi at 11 am,\u201d stated a letter by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, who is National Assembly\u2019s Minority Whip.<\/p>\n

In the letter, Junet said it is \u201cextremely important to attend the PG as crucial decisions will be made.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Coalition looks forward to your attendance.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Monday, demonstrators marched to Parliament Buildings to protest against a move to oust the four commissioners and announced a major rally in Kamkunji on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Led by the President of Bunge la Mwananchi, Calvin Okoth Otieno, the protestors said they will hold daily demonstrations in solidarity with IEBC vice chair Juliana Cherera and commissioners Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang\u2019aya.<\/p>\n

The group said they will also use the Kamkunji meeting to protest against the high cost of living and rising crime.<\/p>\n

Petitioners Republican Liberty Party, Dennis Nthumbi, Geoffrey Langat and Gerry Gerry want the four commissioners removed over claims of violation of the Constitution, gross misconduct and incompetence.<\/p>\n

Even as protests become imminent, President William Ruto on Monday dismissed Opposition plans to organise public meetings and demonstrations in favour of four besieged electoral commissioners.<\/p>\n

Ruto said demos were not the way to push for accountability in government.<\/p>\n

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has warned it will not be a walk in the park for the opposition team to hold anti-Ruto rallies in his county<\/p>\n

Kanu secretary general Nick Salat on the other hand has distanced himself from the planned nationwide mass action.<\/p>\n

Salat termed the move by Azimio leader Raila Odinga as uncalled for.<\/p>\n
