Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Despite the Football Kenya Federation annulling the previous season and stripping Tusker of the title, head coach Robert Matano says he’s not a bitter man.<\/p>\n

The Ruaraka-based brewers suffered a big blow after the FKF National Executive Committee met earlier in the month and declared the preceding season null and void.<\/p>\n

Matano has tipped his charges to shrug off the heartbreak and assert their authority in the topflight competition as they eye another opportunity to fly the country’s flag on the continental stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever happened did happen and we can’t turn back the hand of time to change the situation. We understand that FKF’s decision was informed by Fifa’s ban and therefore, we don’t have anything against them,\u201d Matano said.<\/p>\n

The gaffer further lauded Fifa’s decision to lift Kenya’s suspension saying they will now fight hard to return to continental football.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are now playing knowing very well we have a chance to battle on the international stage if we successfully defend our title and that’s quite a motivation for us,” Matano said.<\/p>\n

Matano expressed confidence in his squad’s capacity to bag the title, saying their two consecutive wins had already provided them with the much-needed edge.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnlike in the previous seasons where we have found ourselves losing our opening matches, this time we managed to win our first match. That portends well for the team,” Matano said.<\/p>\n

The brewers’ campaign took off to a flying start with a narrow 2-1 win over bitter rivals Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium a fortnight ago.<\/p>\n

They then registered an emphatic 4-1 win over Nairobi City Stars at Ruaraka Complex at the weekend.<\/p>\n
