Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has urged first-time governors not let ‘your excellency’ title get in their head.<\/p>\n

He said they should find ways and structure to work with people around them especially the MCAs and not belittle them by dismissing their opinions.<\/p>\n

“After seeing the recent incident between governors and their county assemblies. I want to plead to governors, especially the first time governors, when you get the term ‘your excellency,’ at times it tends to get in your head and you never listen to other leaders,” he said on Monday.<\/p>\n

“You want to belittle MCAs who are legislators in the county assemblies.”<\/p>\n

Ichung’wah urged the governors to emulate President William Ruto who he said was always listening before acting.<\/p>\n

He lauded Ruto on listening to governors opinions and not making decisions based on his word alone.<\/p>\n

“Let us also speak to our governors and ask them to borrow a leaf from our President, who consults, continuously engages with Members of Parliament in our Parliamentary Group meetings,” he said.<\/p>\n

Ichung’wah added the aim of engaging with others formally and informally is to allow seamless flow of services to the people without unnecessary fights.<\/p>\n

“Very soon there might be trouble in a number of counties because of the attitude of some governors,” he said.<\/p>\n

He, however, said he will not mention names but those affected should streamline things in their counties.<\/p>\n
