Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala has called on the western Kenya governors to put up structures to nurture talents.<\/p>\n

Speaking at Kibabii University on Friday, Omanyala argued that many talents have been forgotten and are rotting in the villages and that it\u2019s high time they are nurtured.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of talented youth out there. It will be good if our western region governors can find ways and means of supporting them,\u201d Omanyala said.<\/p>\n

He observed that sports can be a solution to the current unemployment problem, both in western region and the country in general.<\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally, I am earning well because of my talent. If I had stayed at home without showcasing my God-gifted talent then I could be nobody today,\u201d Omanyala stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalents can help participants to travel to other parts of the country and it is one way of networking and creating good rapport with other citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the rising HIV\/AIDS cases, Omanyala pleaded with youth practice safe sex or abstain altogether.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease my sisters and brothers let us not kill our future generation because of one minute sex, use condoms or abstain, I\u2019m very annoyed with the surging HIV cases amongst young people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Omanyala revealed he is planning to start an organisation focusing on health issues and support for the youth.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka said his administration has started the construction of high altitude centre at Chemoge in Mt. Elgon.<\/p>\n

In an Interview with the Star on Saturday, Lusaka said he is not only targeting the construction of the high altitude center but also to start tournaments that will give youths avenues to showcase their talents.<\/p>\n

He said poverty is the main challenge facing young persons in the region, adding that his government is keen on finding solutions by supporting women and youth groups to start businesses.<\/p>\n
