Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has said the resignation of the two IEBC commissioners has put former Prime Minister Raila Odinga\u2019s plans in limbo. \u201cThe resignation of IEBC commissioners has put Tinga’s Maandamo into limbo, confusion and political oblivion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Monday, the senator stated that former IEBC vice chair Juliana Cherera and Justus Nyang’aya’s resignation was long overdue after putting the country in a precipice of anarchy.<\/p>\n

His remarks come three hours after Juliana Cherera resigned as IEBC vice chairperson and commissioner. She wrote to President William Ruto on Monday, notifying him of her resignation from the electoral body.<\/p>\n

Her resignation comes two days after IEBC commissioner Justice Nyang’aya resigned from his position on Friday. \u201cIt is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation as a commissioner of the IEBC effective today (Friday),\u201d Nyang’aya said in a letter to President William Ruto<\/p>\n

Wading into the planned mass rallies by the former presidential candidate, Cherargei recommended that the government should deny Raila police permit. \u201cThe government should deny him (Raila) a police permit because Kenyans need to work,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Raila declared plans to have a mass protest on Wednesday. He said December 7, will mark the start of a series of consultations on the state of the nation, following the removal of the commissioners.<\/p>\n

“We want to ask Kenyans if they are happy with the way things are happening,” Raila said.<\/p>\n

The Azimio leader said the first rally will be held at Kamkunji Grounds in Nairobi and the second will be held at the same venue on December 12. This is the day Ruto is expected to lead the country in the Mashujaa Day celebrations. Raila, on Sunday, promised that during the rallies, he will make a revelation on what transpired during the election.<\/p>\n
