Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former President Uhuru Kenyatta will today close the third inter-Congolese peace dialogue which has been ongoing in Nairobi. The peace talks started on November 28.<\/p>\n

Uhuru who is the East African Community (EAC) peace facilitator has been leading the process which has seen a section of M23 rebels attend as well as civil rights groups, community and religious leaders.<\/p>\n

Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye and President William Ruto opened the meeting geared at finding a lasting solution to the insecurity in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n

The facilitator will be expected to make declarations arrived at from the consultations among the various groups. Uhuru and DRC President Felix Tshesekedi’s special envoy Serge Tshibangu have already expressed optimism the talks will deliver a permanent solution to the hostilities in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Luanda process was very clear that M23 should ease hostilities and vacate from three locations and until that is done, M23 cannot be part of these discussions,\u201d Uhuru said, Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Tshibangu on his part reaffirmed their position as a government that they will not engage the armed groups from neighbouring countries involved in the fights and asked them to leave the country immediately.<\/p>\n

“Help me find peace, do not make my work difficult, I am ready to listen to your views and have ideas on how we can address this situation once and for all,” Uhuru said.<\/p>\n
