Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A junior police officer is under investigation after he was caught on video allegedly stealing money from female invigilators at a secondary school in Bomet County.<\/p>\n

Officials said the incident happened at Kimulot High School in Konoin constituency on Monday.<\/p>\n

The officer was caught on CCTV ransacking the handbags of female invigilators.<\/p>\n

County police commander Mathews Mangira said the officer allegedly entered a room where the invigilators were keeping their belongings, including phones and other valuables, and ransacked the bags.<\/p>\n

He added the three victims have recorded statements after finding out the cash they had in their handbags could not be traced.<\/p>\n

One of them claimed she lost Sh100, another Sh900 and the other Sh300, police said.<\/p>\n

This prompted the victims to consult with the school administration to review the CCTV camera and later saw the officer ransacking the bags.<\/p>\n

Mangira said police are reviewing the video to help come up with clear images that can be of help when executing the case against the suspect if and when he is found.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is missing for now and efforts to get him are ongoing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The policeman had been posted to the school to man the administering Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education by invigilators engaged by the Kenya National Examination Council.<\/p>\n

He was in in full uniform and armed with an AK-47 rifle then.<\/p>\n

The video footage shows the officer sitting on a sofa set before he ransacked the handbags and was seen returning the handbags to their previous positions before striding out of the room.<\/p>\n
