Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Tanzania are the latest entrant in the now four-nation tournament scheduled for next week in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

They join host Kenya, Uganda and Qatar in a 10-day tournament starting Monday to December 22.<\/p>\n

National women\u2019s cricket team head coach Francis Otieno said the tournament will be staged at Simba Union Cricket grounds.<\/p>\n

Otieno said the arrival of Tanzania comes as an advantage to Kenya, who will use the event to gauge their strength.<\/p>\n

In June this year, Tanzania beat Kenya in the group stage and final round by 38 runs and 44 runs respectively during the Kwibuka tournament in Rwanda.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were already set to host two countries but Tanzania’s confirmation is good for us because we will use them to benchmark. Competing with them here once again will help us know if we learned from our mistakes and if we are making progress,\u201d Otieno said.<\/p>\n

Otieno said they are currently on a break from training until Monday. \u201cI feel we are at a good place but there\u2019s some pressure because we definitely want to perform well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThis tournament will help me see how the girls are coping. We are planning to take a game at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said their wish is to make the tournament an annual event. \u201cAs time goes by, we hope we shall have more countries coming in,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
