Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has built a house for the family of renowned Kenyan football fan Isaac Juma who was slashed to death by unknown assailants in January.<\/p>\n

Barasa handed over the house to Juma\u2019s second wife Farida, in Ebung’ale Village, East Wanga, Mumias East Sub-county in an emotional ceremony at the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cI paid a visit to his family to officially hand over a house that was constructed under the auspices of the “Barasa Foundation,” and pass my Christmas gift to them,\u201d the Kakamega county boss said.<\/p>\n

Farida said she has been struggling to make ends meet after the death of her husband on January 27.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thanked the governor for building this house for me. When my husband died, I was left hopeless with nowhere to go since I did not have any source of income. I rented a house but was kicked out for failing to pay rent,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Juma,56, was hacked to death last night by unknown people at his family home in Rukaya village, Mumias, Kakamega County<\/p>\n

He retired to his ancestral land in Mumias from Nakuru where he used to work as a newspaper vendor.<\/p>\n

The late football fan left behind 10 children and two wives- Christina Juma with who he had four children. Farida has six children<\/p>\n

In 2011, Juma was awarded the KPL Chairman\u2019s lifetime achievement award for his contribution to football fanatism.<\/p>\n

Juma, known for his flamboyant painting all over his body was a poster boy for the national team Harambee Stars and for a long time AFC Leopards. His face was a constant figure in newspapers.<\/p>\n

He had however disappeared off the public radar for the last few years.<\/p>\n
