Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has stated that he has no problem with Azimio leader Raila Odinga\u2019s aggressive push against his Kenya Kwanza administration. Ruto said he is doing his best to deliver on his promises to Kenyans and has seen Opposition leaders also giving their all to check his administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are planning demonstrations and also pinpointing where they think we have gone wrong. I want to encourage them to continue. We wish them well in their endeavours. All I ask of them is that they do it in peace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President added that the Kenya Kwanza administration welcomes well-intended scrutiny and suggestions from the Opposition. \u201cLet all sides do what they are supposed to do in a patriotic manner. We encourage our friends in the Opposition who do whatever it is that will take this country forward,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has already kicked off anti-government programmes that will run for a month. Ruto\u2019s first 100 days in office come to an end on December 22 and Azimio is already accusing the government of failing to fulfil its promises<\/p>\n

In his first engagement with the public on December 7, Raila demanded that Ruto reduces the cost of basic commodities, restore the school fees subsidies and embark on an inclusive and consultative process of reconstituting the IEBC.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the Head of State said the country will only move forward if the government the day is properly checked. \u201cWe should be able to work together in that manner. I am a great believer in an accountable government,\u201d he said. He made the remarks during an interdenominational Church Service at Wanjohi Primary School, Kipipiri Constituency.<\/p>\n

Present at the service were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Nyandarua governor Kiarie Badilisha and legislators Kimani Ichung\u2019wa (Leader of Majority, National Assembly), Wanjiku Muhia (Kipipiri), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Faith Gitau (Nyandarua Woman Rep) and John Methu (Nyandarua senator).<\/p>\n

Ruto said oversight institutions like Parliament and the Opposition should be empowered so that they can see to it that public resources are put to good use.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn accountable administration is the one that will bring the much-needed transformation,\u201d he stated. Rigathi said Opposition leaders should forget getting the support of Mt Kenya leaders in their demonstrations.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one from Mt Kenya wants to go to the streets to throw stones. Leaders from the region ate firmly behind Ruto,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
