Kiambu county leaders who lost in the August polls have pledged to support President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.<\/p>\n

Led by former governor James Nyoro they said they have agreed to support the government and don’t want to be in the opposition.<\/p>\n

They spoke during a press brief in Kiambu town on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe acknowledge that it is now time to develop and transform this nation especially our economy for the benefit of our people,\u201d Nyoro said.<\/p>\n

The leaders are Jubilee candidates who contested various seats\u2014bishop David Kariuki Ngari (Thika MP seat), Damaris Waiganjo(Kiambaa), Joyce Ngugi(Gatundu South), Kanu’s Stephen Kigathi who vied for Kikuyu seat and various MCA aspirants.<\/p>\n

The leaders assured the President and his deputy of their loyalty and support.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the President and his deputy continue to transform the country we assure them of our sincere loyalty,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Ngugi, who is also the former Kiambu deputy governor said they want to be in the current government.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been with the previous government, we worked with it and paid our loyalty, now we have a new leadership and we want to shift our loyalty to it,\u201d Ngugi said.<\/p>\n

Kigathi made a clarion call to all leaders who lost in the elections to join hands and support the government since the new leadership is development conscious.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s join hands and support the government of the day so that we can start building our nation,\u201d Kigathi said.<\/p>\n

Waiganjo said that the county is appreciative of the several positions awarded to the Kiambu people and urged those appointed to empower Kiambu youth and women and deliver development projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cKiambu has never been in the opposition and we would not want to that is why we have joined hands to support the government,\u201d Waiganjo said<\/p>\n

The leaders made it clear that they have not abandoned their parties and are only pledging their loyalties to support the government.<\/p>\n

They, however, called on the president to convene a meeting with all leaders who lost in the elections to forge a way forward in delivering his pledges and agendas to the people of Kiambu.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe call upon the President to convene a leaders’ meeting of those who lost and the elected leaders to discuss how we can move on together as a county and nation. We have seen some groupings of leaders going to seek the President individually,\u201d Nyoro said.<\/p>\n
