Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Newly-crowned London Marathon champion Amos Kipruto has urged his fellow athletes to shun doping after Kenya was spared suspension despite increasing cases in the country.<\/p>\n

Kipruto, who trains at the 2Running Club in Nandi County, said race organisers across the globe are finding it difficult to invite Kenyan athletes due to the doping cases that have tainted the country’s image.<\/p>\n

\u201cNowadays, race directors fear inviting Kenyans because of the ongoing doping menace. I want to urge all athletes to change their ways and focus on training adequately in preparation for competitions,\u201d said Kipruto.<\/p>\n

Kipruto lauded the efforts of the government, Athletics Kenya and the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) in the fight against doping. \u201cI applaud AK and ADAK for their spirit in fighting doping in the country.<\/p>\n

It is high time for athletes to redefine and change their ways. Athletes should keep in mind that nothing comes easy,\u201d said Kipruto. Meanwhile, Kipruto is hopeful that the 2023 season will come with good tidings as he looks forward to making Team Kenya to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a great season and I hope next year will come with more achievements. I have started training in preparation for next year’s World Championships,\u201d Kipruto said. While addressing the children at the Shoe4Africa Hospital, Kipruto said they had to come up with plans to give back to the society.<\/p>\n
