Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Home player Sharon Moraa carded an excellent 40 Stableford points to win the CFAO Motors golf tournament held at the Kisii Sports Club. Moraa started playing golf in April this year and hailed her coach and husband Adrian Monari for guiding him. Monari is a veteran golfer who recently clinched the Diamond Trust Bank overall title at Nyanza Club.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am delighted to have emerged winner in the tournament. It was a very tough competition because I played against seasoned golfers. This will inspire me to continue working hard,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe holes were a bit hidden but I managed to play well and emerge a winner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seasoned golfer Isaac Basweti was the men\u2019s winner with 38 points beating his closes challenger, Kisii Sports Club secretary Lawrence Nyangena, to second place on 36 points.<\/p>\n

The ladies’ winner was Sophie Ongalo with 31 points while Joan Mitei was second after carding a round of 30. The guest winner in the men\u2019s category was Innocent Ondieki with 33 points while the ladies’ title went to Rose Kabutha with 25.<\/p>\n

In other results, Geoffrey Karioki won the longest drive challenge in the men\u2019s category with Faith Chemutai bagging the ladies’ title. Karioki also scooped the back nine title with 20 Stableford points, beating George Ogweche on countback.<\/p>\n

The nearest to the pin award went to Joseph Ashioya with Bosire Anyoka of Deep East Investments (Kisii Toyota) going home with the sponsors’ prize. The tournament attracted 70 golfers and was sponsored by CFAO Motors (formerly Toyota Kenya) and Deep East Investments (Kisii Toyota).<\/p>\n

Club secretary Lawrence Nyangena said they are lining up more tournaments next year. \u201cWe have been focusing on improving facilities at the club including washrooms and changing rooms, the swimming pool and accommodation rooms. They are now up to standard,\u201d said Nyangena. CFAO Motors\u2019 Kisumu branch manager Jackson Obuo announced that the tournament will be staged annually.<\/p>\n
