Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Commonwealth Games 10,000m silver medalist Daniel Simiu is targeting to lower his personal best when he makes his international half marathon debut at the Bahrain Night Half Marathon on December 23.<\/p>\n

Simiu, who is part of Team Kenya to the world cross country championships in Bathurst, Australia said running at the Bahrain Night race will be part of his endurance training ahead of the February 18 world cross country event.<\/p>\n

\u201cRunning half marathons is good for me because it helps build endurance. I have been running many half marathons in Kenya but not abroad,\u201d said Simiu.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know the place is warm but it will be run at night and I believe in myself. I want to run a good race and set a new personal best. My target is to run under one hour as a debut in an international half marathon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Simiu said finishing second at the national cross country trials puts him in good stead heading to Australia. \u201cI am going to test myself. They always say shake the match box to confirm if there are match sticks and finishing second at the trials left me high on confidence,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I am well prepared with the help of my coach Erick Kogo. I hope to deliver something good and make him happy.”<\/p>\n
