Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The Global Peace Foundation is meeting locals from different areas within Nyanza region engaging them in a healing process after the hotly contested elections.<\/p>\n

The foundation said the poll outcome for the Presidential seat divided the country and there was need for an urgent healing intervention to bind the country together and move forward as one nation.<\/p>\n

Executive Director Daniel Juma who spoke in Kisumu said it’s important for people to forgive and let go of politically inflicted anger. “We saw Kisumu remain peaceful and relatively calm despite the travel advisories that were issued against visiting Kisumu over anticipated post election chaos,” he said.<\/p>\n

The drive is being conducted in collaboration with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It involves sensitisation forums that promote post-election healing and reconciliation among the communities in the Nyanza Region.<\/p>\n

Juma said that to ensure that peace is maintained, the partnership has also unveiled a three-year guideline dubbed \u2018Amani Kwa Ground\u2019 to foster the country\u2019s economic growth in a tranquil environment.<\/p>\n

He urged locals to prioritise peace amongst their communities and shun activities that may trigger violence even at the home setup. Juma noted that Kenya is for all Kenyans and elections should not divide anyone, noting that every taxpayer is entitled to development regardless of how they voted.<\/p>\n

He lauded Kisumu residents for heeding the NCIC\u2019s clarion call on \u2018Election Bila Noma\u2019 to foster peace during the electioneering period. Juma persuaded the youth, women and the elected leaders from the region to concentrate on matters that are beneficial and economically empower members of the community.<\/p>\n

The foundation Executive also stressed the need for the residents to embrace the national government\u2019s programmes including the recently launched Hustler Fund to obtain capital for self-advancement.<\/p>\n

“We should look at how our people can take advantage of the Hustler Fund because it’s meant for all and not only those affiliated to Kenya Kwanza,” he said.<\/p>\n
