Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has assured needy learners in the county of a stress-free learning experience come January saying bursary forms are being prepared. He said they have processed 51,000 bursary application forms where every ward has been allocated 600 forms.<\/p>\n

“Good news for the people of Nairobi. We are processing 51,000 bursary forms for our needy students. Each Ward has been allocated 600 bursary forms that will go towards fees for the new school term,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Kindly find your ward bursary committees \/ MCA for guidance. Merry Christmas my people,” Sakaja said in a statement Saturday.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the governor said he would follow up to have bursary disbursement to Nairobi county enhanced to help more students because the county has a higher children per capita compared to other counties.<\/p>\n

In November, Sakaja said he will give needy parents a reason to smile through the increase of bursary funds from Sh3.5 million to Sh6 million for every ward.<\/p>\n

Nairobi assembly chairman for Finance, Budget and Appropriations Committee Wilfred Odalo acknowledged that the 85 elected MCAs will receive Sh6 million each to cater for needy children’s education.<\/p>\n

Sakaja further said he will engage lawmakers in the county over the school feeding programme on a project that will result in the establishment of a kitchen in each of the 17 constituencies.<\/p>\n
