Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called on leaders from Western Kenya who supported Azimio la Umoja to consider working with the Kenya Kwanza administration.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the 43rd Annual Maragoli Cultural Festival in Vihiga County, Mudavadi said leaders who opposed President William Ruto\u2019s candidature in the General Election were welcome to work with the government.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not want to leave behind our brothers and sisters who were in the opposing camp. We cannot do anything meaningful if we continue to be rivals,\u201d he said. The Prime Cabinet Secretary further said he can only increase his bargaining power in Kenya Kwanza administration if the western is fully behind him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I landed here I went straight to the governor and asked him to work with us. Let us not waste time with the past, it is time to move forward together,\u201d he added. Mudavadi also extended an olive branch to leaders who hurled insults at him during campaigns.<\/p>\n

\u201cTell those who had said ill things about me that I am not a vengeful person. You have seen even Francis Atwoli (COTU boss) is with us. Do you think there is any leader from western who said bad things about us more than Atwoli,\u201d he posed.<\/p>\n

Atwoli was a fierce critic of Kenya Kwanza leaders during campaigns but changed their tune after the elections and asked Kenyans to support Ruto\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

Present at the celebrations at Mbale Grounds were Vihiga governor Wilbur Otichillo, University Education and Research Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala and legislators Omboko Milemba (Emuhaya), Dickson Maungu (Luanda), Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga Woman Rep), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili) and Clement Sloya (Sabatia).<\/p>\n

Ottichilo, who was re-elected on an ODM ticket, promised to work with Mudavadi. \u201cTime for politics ended. I will not work closely with Mudavadi and that is my stand,\u201d he stated. Barasa also asked residents of the region to rally behind Mudavadi and Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang\u2019ula.<\/p>\n
