Through her lawyer Elias Mutuma, Kawira said was a victim of blackmail and was being punished for standing in the way of MCAs as they pursued selfish interests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMCAs chanted war cries even before the mover of the impeachment Motion was given a chance to execute his case at the Assembly. It simply shows MCAs were not impartial,\u201d Mutuma said in his opening remarks.<\/p>\n<p>He added that some MCAs were forced to support the Motion, claiming that two ward representatives were even removed from some Assembly committees. Mutuma added that Kawira was the Meru Woman Rep before the August 9 elections and was therefore well versed with the needs of the county.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe understood the needs of the people and people saw it in her. For a woman to be elected governor, and on an independent ticket, it should mean something,\u201d he added. Mutuma pleaded with the Senate Special Committee probing her ouster to subject the governor to an independent and impartial process.<\/p>\n<p>The 11-member committee will determine whether accusations levelled against the governor warrant her removal. The committee has up to December 30 to deliver its findings.<\/p>\n<p>Kawira became the first county boss to be impeached barely three months after being sworn in.
