This is after Gachagua had faulted Sakaja over the move to relocate long-distance Matatus to Greenpatk terminus.

However, on Thursday, the politicians led by Kangema MP Peter Kihungi said Gachagua was defending the business rightfully. ”They must understand that Gachagua was on the frontline defending the businessmen of Nairobi mostly those of Nymakima,” he said.

The lawmaker urged Sakaja to protect Kenyan businesses and rubbished claims that it was a tribal war. ”Sakaja is our UDA governor and we want to urge him to protect our business,” he added. On Tuesday,MPs from Western Kenya counties called on President William Ruto to intervene and end the apparent rift his deputy and Sakaja.

The leaders led by Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, the secretary to the Western Kenya Members of Parliament Caucus, faulted the DP and asked him to let Sakaja implement what he promises the people of Nairobi.

“Sakaja was elected to an office by the people of Nairobi. They expect much from him, therefore the DP should present his manifesto to the people of Nairobi,” Nabii said.

Gachagua and Sakaja recently differed over the Governor’s intentions to eject long-distance matatus from the Nairobi Central Business District. Last week on Monday, the DP warned Sakaja on plans to eject matatus from Nairobi CBD.

He termed the move as ill-intentioned which he claimed was aimed at persecuting the business community from Mt. Kenya, adding that will disrupt business.

“I shall sit down with Sakaja because we are the ones who elected him. We must first discuss anything which can disrupt business in Nairobi. We do not need a lot of speed, go slow,” Gachagua said.

Early this month, Sakaja directed that the long-distance matatus should move to Green Park terminus effectively. The long-distance matatus however got a reprieve after the High court temporarily stopped their move.

However, Sakaja said that matatus have not been removed from the CBD. While addressing the court, he said, matatus can pick up passengers in the CBD but they will drop them off at the Green Park terminus.

For More News And Analysis About Kenya Follow Africa-Press

Africa-Press – Kenya.
