Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Azimio spokesperson Makau Mutua has hit out at some of the persons shortlisted for the position of the male member of the Parliamentary Service Commission.<\/p>\n

Makau on Saturday wondered why some “very senior” people were “subjecting” themselves to the interviews for the position, which began on December 30.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s very humiliating. The job is beneath them. Don\u2019t they have goats and farms back in the village to tend to? Please send them packing.”<\/p>\n

The interviews are being conducted at the Mini Chamber, First Floor, County Hall, Parliament Buildings, by PSC Commissioners led by the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.<\/p>\n

On December 22, the Parliament released a list of eight shortlisted candidates for the aforementioned position chosen from 171 applications.<\/p>\n

Among the candidates are former Kisii Governor James Ongwae, United Democratic Party party chairman Johnson Muthama, former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa and former Aldai MP Cornelly Serem.<\/p>\n

Others are former Limuru MP Peter Mungai, former Matungu MP David Were, former Kwale assembly speaker Sammy Nyamawi Ruwa and John Aruma Ekale.<\/p>\n

Seven of the candidates presented themselves before the interview panel on Friday.<\/p>\n

Former MP Wamalwa did not present himself for vetting.<\/p>\n

“The PSC, today (Friday), interviewed the eight shortlisted candidates to fill the vacant position of a male member. However, Chrisantus Wamalwa did not appear for the interview,” the Senate said in a notice.<\/p>\n

The PSC is expected to recommend the name of a suitable candidate for appointment to the National Assembly and the Senate.<\/p>\n
