Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti has called on her female counterparts to be tough and avoid being \u2018stepped\u2019 on. This comes barely a week after Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza survived an impeachment by the MCAs.<\/p>\n

Ndeti who spoke to Citizen TV on Monday however called for a cordial working relationship between the governors and MCAs for the benefit of the citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet people not look down on us because we are women and start giving us problems, and I am telling my lady governors be tough also, not being stepped on anyhow by the people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut respect people, if they are our MCAs we should be friends with them , a working friendship that friendship that will lead to delivering for the people not people are saying we become friends so that we steal from people,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Last week, Mwangaza survived impeachment after the Senate rejected all charges levelled against her by the MCAs. Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, who chaired the special committee that investigated the charges last Friday said that none of the six charges and 62 grounds fronted against her were substantiated.<\/p>\n

“All the 11 members agreed and recommended to this house that all the charges were not proved or substantiated,” Khalwale said.<\/p>\n

This implies that Kawira will continue with her duties as governor. Mwangaza was impeached on December 14, 2022 after 68 MCAs voted in favour of a motion sponsored by Abogeta MCA Denis Kiogora.<\/p>\n

She was accused of nepotism, illegal appointments, unlawful dismissal of the constitution and statutory functions of county organs. She denies all the allegations<\/p>\n
