Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has hinted at vying running for an influential political seat in Bungoma County in 2027. The third-term MP in the Capital City lost in his bid to run as Nairobi Governor after bigwigs in his Azimio coalition blocked his plans.<\/p>\n

Wanyonyi who is the brother to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula could be plotting a gubernatorial run in Bungoma after Ken Lusaka completes his two constitutional terms.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Sirisia Constituency, Wanyonyi revealed that he could shift his political base to Bungoma in the next general election. \u201cMimi ni mzaliwa wa hapa Bungoma lakini nafanya kazi huko Westlands kama mbunge, nikirudi hapa Bungoma kuwaomba mniunge mkono kuwa kiongozi msinikatae,\u201d Wanyonyi said.<\/p>\n

He spoke in Bungoma West Subcounty on Tuesday during the launch of the Sirisia NG-CDF tournament at Namwela Boys\u2019 Primary School. However, Wanyonyi did not clearly say the position he would wish to contest for in the 2027 polls.<\/p>\n

Before the commencement of the August General Elections campaigns in 2022, Sirisia MP John Waluke came out to publicly endorse Wanyonyi’s bid for Nairobi governor.<\/p>\n

However, Wanyonyi called on Sports CS Ababu Namwamba to allocate funds and support games activities in schools arguing that the top players in national teams were drawn from High Schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently schools has low support from the government, it is my appeal to our CS who is our own son from here to support and nurture talents in schools,\u201d he said. Wanyonyi noted that sports are an important activity in the country as it unites people from different cadres.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201c I have mainly come here to see what you do here in sports so that I can copy paste it to Nairobi, Waluke is my good brother and I will support you to achieve your goals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On his part, Waluke told the press that he is determined to empower and support talents. \u201cMy constituency is doing well in terms of sports, I was impressed with how Namwela boys have performed well in the East African competitions,\u201d Waluke noted.<\/p>\n
