Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Public Service and Gender CS Aisha Jumwa has hailed the representation of women in leadership. Jumwa said that as a country, we had come a long way because, for the first time, there are seven female governors and three elected female senators.<\/p>\n

Additionally, 63 out of 103 female parliamentarians in both the National Assembly and Senate are newly elected. \u201cThis is a significant increase in the number of women in political leadership which we are proud of,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Jumwa said that as a country, we have beaten many odds in terms of women’s representation in key decision-making organs in the Executive, Judiciary and Legislature, which are milestones that must be celebrated.<\/p>\n

She presided over the induction of members of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association in Naivasha on Thursday. Jumwa thanked President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration for appointing women to various leadership positions and ensuring that they are at the centre of the decision-making table.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a clear indication of the faith the administration has that women can effectively and sustainably drive change in our country,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Ruto is committed to the implementation of the two-thirds gender rule in elective and appointive positions in his first year in office.\u201d<\/p>\n
