Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua has said that some Kenyans are brewing chang’aa in gulf countries. Speaking at Citizen, Mutua said that some Kenyans in the gulf are dying while others are going blind.<\/p>\n

“Kenyans are business people, in some of these countries in the Middle East alcohol is illegal. Do you know that there are Kenyans brewing chang’aa in Gulf Countries? It breaks my heart. Selling the drink to other Africans in Muslim countries. Illegality over another illegality,” Mutua said.<\/p>\n

He added that brewing alcohol in a foreign country weakens Kenya’s passport and bargaining power. The CS said that if Kenyans are convicted in the gulf because of alcohol, they will be deported back to Kenya and taken to Kamiti prison.<\/p>\n

Recently, there have been reports of Kenyans who were mistreated in Saudi Arabia. The CS said he visited Saudi Arabia and held talks with the government, which challenged Kenya to reveal citizens who were mistreating people.<\/p>\n

“We have had conversations with the Saudi government asking why their people are abusing our young men and women. They said we need to expose them and will get them arrested,” Mutua said.<\/p>\n

Mutua said that he met Kenyans who are working well. “In Saudi, I met Kenyans and some are working well. I met nurses, teachers and hotel managers,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Mostly, it’s women who suffer and those who go for domestic work. I had private meetings with the women and they disclosed how they are suffering.”<\/p>\n
