Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko shared a cordial moment with his former political rival-Mombasa, Abdulswamad Nassir when they met on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Sonko is seen in a video shaking hands cheerfully with the Mombasa Governor in a congratulatory manner. \u201cThe Governor is here,\u201d he is heard saying. Governor Nassir goes on to call Sonko his brother and Sonko calls for the people of Mombasa to support their new governor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is also my brother. Support this man, wacheni siasa,\u201d Sonko said, Although Sonko\u2019s candidature for the Mombasa seat was tumultuous, he was seen as a worthy competitor by fellow candidates.<\/p>\n

Abdulswamad, who vied on an ODM ticket, was declared the winner of the hotly contested election with 119,083 votes. His main challenger, former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar of the United Democratic Alliance, came in second with 98,105 votes.<\/p>\n
