Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Nominated MP Sabina Chege has called on Kenyans to back Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as Mount Kenya’s Kingpin. Speaking on Friday, Sabina Chege said that Gachagua is the only leader in Mt Kenya for now.<\/p>\n

“When we support Gachagua from the ground then he will be much respected even up there. You all know I was an Azimio diehard but just as I respect leadership, I also respect the decisions you made through your votes and that’s why you saw me in State House the other day,” she said.<\/p>\n

“For now we only have one leader as Mount Kenya people and that’s Rigathi Gachagua and we have to support him fully.”<\/p>\n

The nominated MP said that they had a sitting with the government and agreed that the projects initiated by the previous regime should not be stopped.<\/p>\n

The legislator said she will not be part of the scheduled Azimio rally at Jacaranda on Sunday. “I want to say today that you won’t see me protesting, sijafikisha ujinga hapo,” she said.<\/p>\n

This is after Azimio leader Raila Odinga called on Kenyans to convene at Jacaranda on Sunday for a rally. Sabina Chege was part of the Jubilee MPs who met President William Ruto at State House before Raila’s Monday rally.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the meeting, Ruto said that the country cannot move forward if other leaders are left behind. “We must build a bigger and better team that will work together to effectively prosecute the agenda of the people of Kenya. We cannot move our country forward by leaving others behind,” he said.<\/p>\n

Jubilee is part of the larger Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance that ran against Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance in the August 2022 polls. Some officials from the party have largely remained critics of Ruto’s administration while others have chosen to work with the president.<\/p>\n
