Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has criticized the media over what he termed as misreporting on the loans the Kenya Kwanza has so far borrowed.<\/p>\n

Without mentioning names, Nyoro instead called for factual reporting, saying not even a quarter of the money stated had been borrowed as alleged.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Narok on Sunday during an interdenominational church service, Nyoro said the current budget had a deficit of 862 billion.<\/p>\n

President William Ruto attended the event at the William Ole Ntimama Stadium.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you want to write about loans it is good to tabulate for Kenyans to see, andika wenye wamekopesha, ile siku wamekopa na uandike ni pesa ngapi so that we have the correct information (Name those who have loaned us the money, the day they loaned and the amount of money),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A section of the local media had reported that Kenya Kwanza had so far borrowed Sh500 billion since it took to power three months ago.<\/p>\n

The information was, however, corrected stating that only Sh137 billion had been borrowed as per a Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) report.<\/p>\n

In September, the government is said to have taken Sh50.42 billion while in October, it took another Sh21.85 billion.<\/p>\n

In November, the CBK report is said to have indicated that Sh70.5 billion was borrowed.<\/p>\n
