Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Roseline Njogu detailed why it is a tough job working for President William Ruto. The PS revealed the intrigues behind working with the President during a JKLive interview at Citizen TV on Wednesday, February 1.<\/p>\n

Njogu at one time revealed that her job at the State Department of Diaspora Affairs felt like being a wedding planner. \u201cWorking for the President is a tough job, but I am grateful that it also comes with a lot of support,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n

The PS detailed an incident that happened during her first week on the job terming it as \u2018Baptism by Fire.\u2019 \u201cI had been in office for only a week when I was told it was time to travel with the President for US-Africa Summit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was putting up the big diaspora event in Washington and I was in a lot of pressure to perform well,\u201d she animated. On how she took the job, she remarked, \u201cI must admit it felt a little bit like being a wedding planner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Njogu also revealed that the President is not shy on calling out someone when he is unhappy with his or her performance. \u201cThe President is vocal in telling you that he thinks you are not being ambitious enough in a particular issue,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n

The PS though praised the President saying that the pressure came with the necessary support. \u201cThe President is very quick to support and send help, he will also tell you, \u2018I like that idea, run with it,\u2019 and also marshal resources to help you deliver,\u201d she praised the Head of State.<\/p>\n

Njogu was sworn in as PS for Diaspora Affairs on December 2, 2022. The state department is under the Foreign Affairs ministry headed by Alfred Mutua. She has been instrumental in making sure the welfare of Kenyans especially those working at Middle East are taken care of.<\/p>\n

The youthful PS is one of the most decorated lawyers in the country. She holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Harvard Law School, and a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the University of Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Before being appointed as PS, she was in charge of legal innovation at Lexlink Consulting which is a legal and tax consulting firm. She has also previously worked as Lecturer in Law at Kenyatta University and Riara University.<\/p>\n
