Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The Council of Governors has announced Uasin Gishu as the host of the inaugural devolution conference. The first biennial summit will be held on August 16-19 this year and is themed \u201c10 years of Devolution: The Present and Future\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe conference will adopt a break-away session format. Proposed sessions include urban development, affirmative action, natural resources management, health, agriculture and trade,\u201d the COG said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The governors adopted the decision in 2021 and was to be implemented last year. According to the county chiefs, the changes were to allow governors fully implement resolutions settled on during the seminars.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne year is quite short to implement all the recommendations proposed. To allow governors fully implement the recommendations, starting next year, the Devolution Conference will be held once every two years,\u201d said former CoG vice chairperson James Ongwae when he addressed the press then.<\/p>\n
