Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The Jubilee party has affirmed that it’s in the Azimio la Umoja coalition to stay.<\/p>\n

Secretary general Jeremiah Kioni on Friday pledged the party’s loyalty to the Raila Odinga-led outfit saying what the ODM leader says is final.<\/p>\n

“We in Jubilee are strong in Azimio and we will continue being strong in Azimio. What Baba tells us to do we will do,” Kioni said.<\/p>\n

He spoke during a press conference at the new Jubilee headquarters in Kileleshwa.<\/p>\n

The Jubilee party is one of the 23 constituent parties of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition alongside Kanu, Wiper, Narc Kenya and ODM.<\/p>\n

Kioni convened the press conference to critique the Kenya Kwanza administration on a range of issues including taxes and the apparent victimisation of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

The SG said Nairobi branch Jubilee members have pledged allegiance to Azimio and are ready to participate in all the upcoming Azimio consultative rallies.<\/p>\n

“They have led the Jubilee party for the last known number of years and they are still doing it and as they have said they are going to be part and parcel of the Azimio rallies.”<\/p>\n

Kioni said Kenya Kwanza is using Uhuru as a decoy but the regime is in essence targeting ordinary Kenyans in the taxation of inherited land.<\/p>\n

“When you say you want to tax because I was given land by my old man, you may think they are targeting Uhuru, but they are targeting that land you inherited from your grandfather. That’s what they want to tax.<\/p>\n

“Kenyans need to know, if there is anything you received in the form of inheritance all the way from your grandfather’s grandfather, that is what they are saying they are going to tax,” Kioni said.<\/p>\n

President William Ruto has affirmed that all Kenyans regardless of their status must pay taxes.<\/p>\n

The head of state has accused people he says exempted themselves from paying taxes for sponsoring the Azimio rallies in a bid to maintain the status quo.<\/p>\n

“Every citizen must pay tax. It doesn\u2019t matter even if they sponsor demonstrations so that they don\u2019t pay tax. I promise them they will pay tax. There is no more exemption,\u201d Ruto said.<\/p>\n
