Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu has been rescued alive from the rubble of a building in the southern Turkish province of Hatay, one of several regions hit in Monday\u2019s deadly earthquakes.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old was \u201cpulled from the wreckage with injuries,\u201d according to Mustafa Ozat, deputy chairman of Turkish Super Lig club Hatayspor.<\/p>\n

Taner Savut, the club\u2019s sporting director, is still trapped, Ozat told Anadolu.<\/p>\n

Atsu, who joined Hatayspor last year, previously played for several European teams such as Premier League sides Everton, Chelsea, and Newcastle United, as well as Portuguese club Porto.<\/p>\n

Many of his previous clubs posted messages of support and prayers after he went missing.<\/p>\n

In a tweet, the Ghana Football Association hailed the \u201cpositive news\u201d about the international winger.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve received some positive news that Christian Atsu has been successfully rescued from the rubble of the collapsed building and is receiving treatment,\u201d the association said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s continue to pray for Christian,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n

Over 3,400 people have been killed and more than 20,500 injured in 10 provinces of Tu\u0308rkiye after two strong earthquakes jolted its southern parts on Monday, according to latest official figures.<\/p>\n

All sports activities have been suspended until further notice as the country observes a seven-day period of national mourning.<\/p>\n

International sports organizations including FIFA, UEFA, EuroLeague Basketball, and sports teams around the world issued messages of condolences and support after the deadly quakes.<\/p>\n
