Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina asked ODM Members of Parliament who visited President William Ruto at the State House on Tuesday to resign. Taking to his Twitter, Ledama said the MPs should seek a fresh mandate with the side they want to be in.<\/p>\n

“And if you are nominated you go and prepare the ground for 2027!” he tweeted. Nine MPs affiliated with Raila Odinga’s party who visited Ruto have been under fire since Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

The party director of communications Philip Etale said that the meeting by the MPs was no surprise for them and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.<\/p>\n

“The party has been monitoring closely the behind-the-scenes activities involving some of them and today was just the climax,” he said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Etale termed the State House meetings as a tactic to divert the nation’s attention from the high cost of living, unbearable school fees for their children and corruption.<\/p>\n

The MPs are Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East, Independent), Paul Abuor (Rongo), John Owino (Awendo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda. Jalang’o has since defended himself saying that the main agenda for the meeting was for development.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we had breakfast with the President, I followed up on the Start date of the construction of affordable housing in the Highrise ward and the completion of the Langata TVET. The project is on and the contractor is on the ground, an extra Sh50 million has been located for the completion,\u201d he said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, however, termed their move as dishonest. “As a taxpayer, you are not required to beg for development. Just like Govt doesn\u2019t call you to the statehouse when taxing you, you likewise don\u2019t need a meeting there to get development, it’s your right,” he tweeted.<\/p>\n
