Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua are expected to attend an interdenominational prayer rally in Nakuru county on Sunday. The event will be held at Nakuru Athletic Club hosted by Governor Susan Kihika and leaders from all 14 Rift Valley counties.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Kihika held an exclusive meeting with Nakuru MPs to plan the event and rallied residents to attend the event. \u201cWe are here to check on the preparations of the prayers that we have been arranging for the past several weeks of which the President together with other leaders are expected to attend,\u201d Kihika said on her social media pages.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are co-hosting with all counties in the Rift Valley, we are inviting all the great people of Nakuru to come and be with us on Sunday to join us in this thanksgiving prayer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other leaders expected to attend the meeting include MPs David Gikaria(Nakuru Town East), Martha Wangari(Gilgil), Jane Kihara of (Naivasha), Samuel Gachobe(Subukia), Charity Kathambi(Njoro), Kuria Kimani(Molo) and Joseph Tonui(Kuresoi South).<\/p>\n

Wangari said that the President will address several issues affecting residents. She called on Kenyans to turn up in large numbers and give thanks for the far the nation had come, and also pray for prosperity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are collaborating with some other 13 counties to ensure this is a success, and we expect to have national leaders from all levels of governance present,\u201d Wangari said.<\/p>\n

Gatanga MP and UDA legal secretary general Edward Muriu has said after Nakuru, Ruto will attend prayers in Machakos. Muriu said that Ruto is much determined to unite the Kenyans after the contested general elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be traversing the whole country thanking Kenyans for supporting Kenya Kwanza government and fulfilling campaign promises that we made to them before the election,\u201d Muriu said.<\/p>\n

The move to visit Nakuru county comes a day after the President and his deputy held a meeting with Jubilee MPs including Bahati MP Irene Njoki. Njoki will be welcomed to UDA during the prayer event.<\/p>\n

Other Jubilee leaders who have declared support for Kenya Kwanza government include EALA MP Kanini Kega, nominated MP Sabina Chege, , Zachary Kwenya Thuku ( Kinangop), Shadrach Mwiti ( South Imenti), Mark Mwenje ( Embakasi West), Amos Mwago ( Starehe), Dan Karitho ( Igembe Central), Stanley Muthama ( Lamu West) and Joseph Githuku (Lamu Senator).<\/p>\n

President Ruto has been traversing the Mount Kenya region holding thanksgiving prayers and meet-the-people tours. Political analyst and Star columnist Albert Kasembeli has opined that Ruto has been plotting his 2027 campaign strategies through numerous visits to the Mount Kenya region.<\/p>\n

He said the thanksgiving meetings are mostly dominated by campaign promises and strategic positioning. \u201cPresident Ruto\u2019s interdenominational prayer meetings are aimed at bringing his supporters together and there is nothing wrong with that,” Kasembeli said. Kasembeli noted that the recent move by Ruto to reach out to Jubilee leaders from Mt Kenya is aimed to weaken Raila’s influence in the region.<\/p>\n
