Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Embattled Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni revealed that the process to strip Sabina Chege of her role as the Deputy Minority Whip of the National Assembly (NA) had begun.<\/p>\n

Speaking during an Azimio rally in Busia on Sunday, February 12, Kioni instructed Azimio MPs to kickstart the de-whipping process when the NA sittings resume.<\/p>\n

He accused her and nominated Senator Fatuma Dullo of betraying the party arguing that they should be stripped of the positions assigned to them by virtue of being part of Jubilee.<\/p>\n

“We have done away with the seat we had given Sabina Chege of the Deputy Whip of the Minority and we are calling on Azimio MPs to ensure that she no longer holds the position from Tuesday because she has already joined Kenya Kwanza<\/p>\n

“Even her Senate counterpart Fatuma Dullo, who joined Kenya Kwanza should relinquish her seat because it belongs to Azimio,” he declared.<\/p>\n

Sabina Chege was nominated to the National Assembly after shelving her gubernatorial ambitions before the 2022 General Election.<\/p>\n

She was among the Jubilee leaders who joined President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza brigade for a thanksgiving service in Nakuru County on Sunday, February 12.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the Leader of the Majority in the NA Kimani Ichung’wah assured her that she would not lose her seat for decamping to the government.<\/p>\n

Chege, East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) legislator James Mathenge alias Kanini Kega, and other lawmakers were welcomed to the government by Ruto, who stated that they returned ‘home’.<\/p>\n

Following the meeting, Kioni stated that the leaders would face disciplinary action for meeting the Head of State without receiving a nod from the party secretariat.<\/p>\n

However, his threats were countered by a petition to have him vacated as the Jubilee party SG, and David Murathe ejected as its Vice Chairperson.<\/p>\n

The embattled party official laughed off the ouster threats noting that former President Uhuru Kenyatta was still the party leader and had a say in the undertakings of the party.<\/p>\n
