Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has urged Kenyans to discrete religion from politics. Ledama called on Kenyans to think of the wars that have happened in the name of God and religion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must separate religion-the church from politics. Otherwise, prejudice, bigotry, and all kinds of violence will follow,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenyans! We are headed in the wrong direction. Just think of how many wars have been carried out throughout history in the name of God and religion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

This comes after President William Ruto invited Kenyans from all walks of life on Tuesday to say prayers for the nation. The prayers held at the Nyayo National Stadium were to ask for God\u2019s intervention in bringing rain and blessings to the country.<\/p>\n

Former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando wa Kabando termed the national prayers as a partisan forum. Kabando, in his opinion, said it was wrong for the national prayers not to include other religions.<\/p>\n

He said it is up to sovereigns in the nation to call out the government when it goes astray. “Arbitrarily convening so-called national prayers, that is, in fact, a partisan forum with some, not all, denominations is wrong,” Kabando said.<\/p>\n
