Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Azimio la Umoja has canceled a planned rally that was to be held in Mombasa on Saturday 25. The Coalition has instead announced it will hold the people’s baraza in Kakamega on February 25.<\/p>\n

In a statement through the spokesman Dennis Onyango, party leader Raila Odinga said the changes were to allow for better coordination of its activities.<\/p>\n

“To better coordinate its activities, the party made a decision to clear with western Kenya, before proceeding to other parts of the country,” reads the statement.<\/p>\n

He has, however, stated that the prayer rally scheduled for Jevanjee Gardens in Nairobi will proceed as planned. The leaders took their anti-Ruto campaigns to Kisumu on Saturday a day after holding a similar event in Kisii.<\/p>\n

During the Kisumu rally, Narc-K leader Martha Karua said they will not suspend the planned rallies against President William Ruto’s administration until they achieve their mission.<\/p>\n

Karua stated that their meetings are peaceful and people-driven. She said contrary to claims by their opponents that they are demonstrations so as to create fear, all their past rallies have been peaceful.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have done 10 peaceful meetings and our campaigns were peaceful and we are going to take back people\u2019s power peacefully,\u201d she reckoned.<\/p>\n

\u201cMikutano yetu ni ya amani so I want to warn the prophets of doom wale wanaambia watu ni maandamano…na maandamano si mbaya, wanaelezea watu hivyo ndiyo waogope wakifikiria kweli ni vurugu,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

(Our meetings are peaceful so I want to warn the prophets of doom telling people it’s a protest… and protesting is not bad, they tell people that to make them think we mean harm.)<\/p>\n
