Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The government has set aside Sh60 billion to clear pending bills in a new supplementary budget.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Monday when he assented to the Supplementary Appropriation Bill, President William Ruto said the move will ensure uninterrupted delivery of services to the people.<\/p>\n

The Bill also allows the issuance of Sh200.7 billion from the Consolidated Fund, which will be used to pay for services rendered for this year.<\/p>\n

Some of the services rendered include; provisions for capitation for students entering junior secondary school, recruitment of additional teachers and improvement of school infrastructure as well as additional provisions for school feeding.<\/p>\n

In the Bill, recruitment of additional teachers will cost Sh6 billion, school feeding under National Council for Nomadic Education Sh2 billion, drought mitigation Sh10 Billion and fertiliser subsidy Sh15 Billion.<\/p>\n

The head of state noted that for the country to be able to mitigate its current food security situation, a long-term and sustainable solution is required.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is why the supplementary estimates have funded a wide range of interventions such as the expansion of irrigation systems,\u201d Ruto said.<\/p>\n

Leaders presented during the assenting ceremony at State House Nairobi included; Attorney General Justin Muturi, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang\u2019ula, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw\u2019ah and Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.<\/p>\n
