Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has said that opposition leader Raila Odinga is looking for a way to join the Kenya Kwanza government. Murungi, who joined President William Ruto in Meru during his tour on Saturday, said Raila is not demonstrating for the cost of living and other demands, but rather looking for a job.<\/p>\n

“There are no demonstrations, someone is applying for a job, he is always in government, ” he said.<\/p>\n

The former Governor added that the opposition leader has been in all the past regimes and he is working hard to find himself in the Kenya Kwanza government.<\/p>\n

“I have worked with him (Raila) and we have so far seen him in three regimes. The recent one being the handshake and you know how things went,” Kiraitu said.<\/p>\n

Kiraitu who was supporting Raila’s presidential bid in the 2022 elections, has now shifted camps and is fully supporting President William Ruto. On Friday, the Head of State appointed him as chairperson of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya.<\/p>\n

He took up his duties effective April 20, 2023 and will serve for a period of three years. Kiraitu failed to defend his Meru gubernatorial seat after losing to the current Governor Kawira Mwangaza.<\/p>\n
