Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya Union Party (KUP) has left Azimio la Umoja One Kenya and is set to officially join Kenya Kwanza Alliance on Thursday. Its party leader John Lonyangapuo will be signing a post-election coalition agreement with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Earlier this week, Lonyangapuo said that given that the three months post-election coalition agreement has elapsed, they are free to leave Azimio.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenya Union Party ideals and aspirations are well catered for in Kenya Kwanza Alliance, we have officially initiated the process that will enable us to leave the Azimio coalition that we supported during the August 2022 General Election and which we feel no longer represents the interests of our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

After the August 2022 General Election, KUP resolved to work with President William Ruto. KUP joins a list of parties that joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and are recognized by the Registrar of Political Parties.<\/p>\n

The parties include; the Grand Dream Development Party (GDDP), Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM), the Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) and the National Agenda Party of Kenya (NAP-K). Also, Chama Cha Mashinani signed the Kenya Kwanza coalition agreement.<\/p>\n

Other than Ruto’s UDA, other parties under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance are Amani National Congress (ANC) of Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang\u2019ula\u2019s Forum for Restoration of Democracy-Kenya (Ford Kenya) and Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi.<\/p>\n
