Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Bipartisan team talk aligned to the Azimio la Umoja Coalition has said it is not in their position to call off the protests. Addressing the media on Tuesday, the team led by MP Otiende Amollo says said they did not have the capacity to do so.<\/p>\n

“As a joint bipartisan team, we have never been mandated to discuss anything about demonstrations. It is not in our place to call on or call off protests,” he said.<\/p>\n

Otiende noted that some issues raised by the Kenya Kwanza coalition were unreasonable. “You cannot take our member and put him on the team then come back and tell us to remove ours for you to do the same. That is illogical,” he said.<\/p>\n

Last week, the President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza bipartisan committee said it was open to recusing Eldas MP Aden Keynan from the talks. In what could be interpreted as a way to woo the Opposition into calling off planned protests, the team said Keynan will be dropped if there will be conflict during the discussions.<\/p>\n

Even so, the team urged their Azimio counterpart to also consider dropping Pokot South MP David Pkosing from the committee. In addition, Otiende said the Kenya Kwanza team had not dropped Keynan’s name from the list, urging Kenyans not to be fooled.<\/p>\n
