Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A matatu transport Sacco, Embassava, has increased the fleet of electric cars operating within the City following the delivery of four new buses. The buses were delivered by Basigo company to the management of the Sacco in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

“This morning we delivered four new electric buses to Embassava Sacco that will be plying Nairobi central business district, Jacaranda Estate and Nyayo Estate routes,” the company said.<\/p>\n

According to the company, the new buses will go a long in making the city greener while giving passengers a more comfortable and much-needed travel experience.<\/p>\n

“Passengers on these routes will now get to enjoy a modern, comfortable, and clean travel experience with the convenience of cashless payments,” it said.<\/p>\n

It added: “With each bus we deliver, BasiGo is bringing clean, electric transport to all parts of Nairobi.” The government is currently promoting the adoption of -buses as it races towards reduced carbon emissions in a bid to address climate change concerns.<\/p>\n

B<\/b>asiGo\u2019s head of business development, Samuel Kamunya recently stated they had received several orders and that it would be delivering the buses in the first quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n

“We aim at delivering 100 electric buses by the first quarter of 2023,\u201d Kamunya said.<\/p>\n

The greatest barrier to electric bus adoption in emerging markets is the high upfront cost, which limits operators from running the Pay As You Drive (PAYD) model.<\/p>\n
