Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has weighed in on the ongoing supremacy contest over control of the Jubilee party saying the face-off will be dirty.<\/p>\n

Wrangling within the former ruling party pits a faction allied to former President Uhuru Kenyatta against the one allied to his successor William Ruto.<\/p>\n

Uhuru on Monday convened a National Delegates Convention at the Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi and declared that he will stay at the helm of the party’s leadership and won’t be intimidated by the Kanini Kega-led faction.<\/p>\n

Ngunyi said the planning of the NDC was splendid but Ruto is street-smart and is likely to outdo Uhuru in the contest.<\/p>\n

“Uhuru Kenyatta NDC was executed with panache and masterful calibration. But the methods of William Ruto are those of a village chicken seller. And village boys have a way of disorganising city boys using ‘mathogothanio’ (rugged) methods,” he said in a statement on Twitter.<\/p>\n

“This game will not be neat. May the best man win,” he added.<\/p>\n

Ngunyi’s remarks came on a day Uhuru’s hold on the Jubilee party leadership was dealt a blow after the Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu ratified resolutions of the National Executive Committee meeting held on February 10.<\/p>\n

The meeting resolved to expel secretary general Jeremiah Kioni and vice chairman David Murathe from the Jubilee party. The two are Uhuru’s allies.<\/p>\n

“Following a review of the submitted documents in line with the PPA and party Constitution, this office is satisfied that the party adhered to the due process. Accordingly, pursuant to Section 34(da) of the PPA, this office has updated its records and the register of party members,” Nderitu said.<\/p>\n

The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal, however, issued conservatory orders shortly thereafter stopping the duo’s ouster “pending the hearing and determination of the Application inter partes.”<\/p>\n

Nderitu said during a press conference at her office on Tuesday that she acted within the law in upholding the expulsion.<\/p>\n

“We implement what parties bring to us provided the law was followed in reaching those decisions,” she said.<\/p>\n

Kioni has accused the ORPP of working for some individuals in the Kenya Kwanza administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are doing everything possible to snatch the party from Uhuru Kenyatta,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
