Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>United States International University USIU-A Mashujaa striker Robinson Omutekete is keen to rediscover the lethal form he was in prior to the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Omutekete 22, joined Mashujaa at the start of the season from Kakamega-based side Western Jaguars. The prolific attacker was one of the most coveted players in the Kenya Hockey Union League before the onset of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Personal commitments denied the hawk-eyed attacker the chance to showcase his qualities in the last two seasons. “I joined USIU because I know it will give me a platform to play and combine it with academics,” he said.<\/p>\n

“At the moment, I am not the player I was in 2019. The pandemic led to hockey inactivity. Last season I was on and off the team because of attachment,” he observed.<\/p>\n

“Now I have the time to put my act together. Train properly with my new teammates and create a telepathic understanding. My imperious form will definitely return.”<\/p>\n

The Mumias native played for Musingu high school between 2014-2017. He credits his meteoric rise to Jaguars coach Mike Malungu who taught him the game.<\/p>\n

“I am indebted to coach Mike. He’s a fantastic man who made me develop a passion for the game, pointed out my mistakes and encouraged me to improve.”<\/p>\n

Omutekete said he needs to sharpen his scoring skills and enhance precision: “I want to bring my A game. But to do that, I need to work on my decision-making, finishing and precision.”<\/p>\n
