Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Ndhiwa are investigating the circumstances under which a primary school head teacher reportedly committed suicide in South Kanyikela on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

George Onyado was the head teacher at Mariwa Primary School. He was reported to have hanged himself from a tree using a sisal rope at his home in Nguku A village.<\/p>\n

Reasons behind the suspected suicide are not yet to be established. The body was discovered by neighbours who had gone to his home to fetch water. They informed the South Kanyikela location Chief Moses Ongonga about the incident who in turn informed the police.<\/p>\n

When they visited the scene, they found the body hanging from the tree that was in a banana farm. Ongonga said the deceased had not shown any signs that he was under any sort of pressure or stress. He said the man went to church the previous day and was seen jovial.<\/p>\n

“Most church members who were with him on Saturday said the man was jovial and didn\u2019t show any signs of frustrations. Some of the church members went with him up to his home before leaving,\u201d Ongonga said.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists over the matter, the administrator said a farm hand at the home reported that they were also surprised by the death. They woke up on Sunday and went to their usual duties of doing farm chores.<\/p>\n

“The farm hand said his attention was drawn after he heard people ululating because of the death of his boss. He didn\u2019t know his boss had died,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The head teacher had dug a borehole whose water neighbours fetch for domestic use. The neighbours had arrived at the home and tried to alert whoever was home that they wanted to fetch water.<\/p>\n

But after they got no response, they decided to leave but one of them spotted the body hanging from a tree. Ongonga said they reported the matter to police officers in Ndhiwa and took the body to Manyatta Nursing Home Mortuary in Kobodo trading centre. A postmortem is expected to be done to establish the cause of death.<\/p>\n
