Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has told Busia residents to ask their legislators for jobs if they fail to pass the proposed Finance Bill 2023 in Parliament. Ruto said the proposed three per cent tax for affordable housing is for the betterment of the Kenyans as it will create more jobs.<\/p>\n

“Wabunge wenyu wakiangusha hii budget mkuje muwaulize kazi zenu,” he said.<\/p>\n

(If your MPs fail to pass the budget, ensure you ask them for jobs as the Bill has set aside money to solve unemployment)<\/p>\n

The head of State went on to ask the residents if they want the Bill be passed and they responded in the affirmative. “Nyinyi mtataka hii budget ipitishwe?” he asked. “Hii ndio sauti ya raia (This is the people’s voice).”<\/p>\n

Ruto said he has no problem with being criticised as he is keen on listening to what people are saying, that’s the beauty of democracy, he emphasised.<\/p>\n

“We must find ways of getting ideas from everyone, a good idea gives way to a better idea, that’s how we are going to move the country forward,” Ruto said The President explained that in the Bill, he has three plans on matters employment of the youth across the country.<\/p>\n

“Katika hiyo budget nimeweka pesa ya kupeleka ICT hub katika ward, ndio tupange vijana na digital jobs, tumepanga mambo ya agro-processing, ya tatu ni mambo ya housing,” he said.<\/p>\n

(In the proposed Finance Bill, 2023, I have set aside money for ICT hubs in every ward across the country that will enable the youth to apply for digital jobs, there are plans on agro-processing and affordable housing)<\/p>\n
