Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kiambu businesswoman, Pauline Waithera, popularly known as mama mboga has now come out and dismissed reports she has been abandoned by President William Ruto. Waithera defended the head of state from accusations of \u2018use and dump\u2019, terming it a smear campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is nonsense and I don’t want nonsense. Ruto has been my friend since 2013. I have loved him since then, people don\u2019t know why I came to love Ruto,\u201d she said in a circulated video clip.<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI am very much annoyed. Who told these people I have problems? My house has never been closed, my child has never been sent home and I can afford food because of Ruto,\u201d the 70-year-old said.<\/p>\n

Waithera also revealed that Ruto gifted her Sh300, 000 a day after she accompanied her to Bomas to present his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).<\/p>\n

Waithera has been the subject of discussion with a section firing a barrage of criticisms against Ruto for turning his back on her. In an article by The Nation on June 5, the businesswoman who runs a grocery business at Kang\u2019ang\u2019i market was captured saying she is now poor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t know what you will write after this interview but don’t forget to mention that I am very angry with politicians who used me for political gains during campaigns and have now abandoned me,\u201d she is quoted.<\/p>\n

It reads, \u201cI was used to illustrate how poor people will benefit from the Ruto government through bottom-up but even after they won the presidential election. I was not even invited to Kasarani Stadium during the inauguration of Presidency Ruto and his deputy. I spent the whole day crying at home, people were laughing at me\u201d.<\/p>\n

Waithera is said to have claimed that the UDA used her to lie to her fellow poor people. “I have come to realise this tactic was to get the poor people to vote for Ruto en masse in the hope that things would get better,” she said.<\/p>\n
