Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has called on the government to tap into the potential of the youthful population. Kibwana on Saturday said it is only through this that Africa as a continent will be able to achieve their development agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you ask me Africa’s most critical resource is not her minerals, water bodies, agricultural land and such like, but her youth resource,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the continent will know how to strategically deploy her youth for own development, only then will Africa’s renaissance become a reality,\u201d he added. The former governor has been relentless in calling for more opportunities for young people.<\/p>\n

This comes even as Environment CS Soipan Tuya called on the youth to unite and take a leading role at the upcoming African Climate Summit saying effective climate action was a whole-of-society undertaking.<\/p>\n

Kenya is preparing to host the Africa Climate Summit which will happen on September 4 to 6 in Nairobi. She said youths are the bearers of climate action dreams for current and future generations.<\/p>\n

“We are not leaving anybody behind, not the least our young people. I am extremely excited today that we have our young people on the table way before the summit,” Tuya said.<\/p>\n

She said the success of the Summit will depend on the participation of Africa’s climate action partners. The CS was speaking on Friday at a meeting with youth leaders convened by the Dutch Ambassador to Kenya Maarten Bouwer, at his Nairobi residence. The representatives were drawn from various climate action youth organisations.<\/p>\n
