Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang\u2019ula passed his sincere condolences to the family of the late Marya Elizabeth. Marya, daughter of former vice president Moody Awori, died on the evening of June 6, 2023, but news of her death was made public on Wednesday, June 7, by Speaker Amason Kingi.<\/p>\n

In a tribute read by Ugenya MP David Ochieng, Wetang’ula said that Marya was a valuable asset to her parliamentary family. \u201cMarya was a valuable asset to her parliamentary family. Her presence reflected passion for democracy and her absence is of utmost sadness,\u201d Wetang\u2019ula said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was evident from the moment I met her that she was an exceptional employee. Her contributions to Parliament and the Senate were exemplary.” He said that in her line of duty, Marya was always ready to provide guidance to those who were in need.<\/p>\n

\u201cMarya will therefore be missed by friends and colleagues. She was a kind and compassionate person with a vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. She Possed a rare ability to bring people together and bridge divides,\u201d Wetang\u2019ula said.<\/p>\n

Wetang\u2019ula said that Marya’s legacy must be carried on in her memory and any form of support will be provided to her family. Marya, the last born to former Vice President Moody Awori and Rose Awori was born on December 24, 1968.<\/p>\n

She was a senior staffer at the Senate assembly working as principal assistant clerk. She joined the Parliamentary Service on December 6, 2005, as a Personal Assistant in the then office of the Vice President and Leader of Government Business. She has left behind her husband Michael Adjibodou and two children Folsade Adjibodou and Adebayo J Adjibodou.<\/p>\n
