Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindiki Kithure has vowed to scuttle protests organized to counter the passing of the Finance Bill 2023.<\/p>\n

Kindiki who spoke at Kamahuha PEFA church in Murang\u2019a said the opposition will not be allowed to organize protests that have been known to cause loss of life and property.<\/p>\n

The CS urged Azimio La Umoja leaders to use the judicial systems should they feel aggrieved over the happenings in the national assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is democratic for leaders of Kenya Kwanza and those of Azimio La Umoja to have diverse political views. Those who lose in assembly can use means that are within the law but what we won\u2019t allow is someone to block roads just because they lost,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Last week, Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga asked his supporters to prepare for another round of demonstrations over the Finance Bill that recently passed in its second reading.<\/p>\n

But the CS said that previous demonstrations organized by the coalition resulted in massive losses for traders as criminals took advantage to loot shops.<\/p>\n

He said several police officers sustained injuries after being attacked by protesters and that blockage of roads due to the protests caused suffering for many Kenyans going about their businesses.<\/p>\n

“We will not allow people to hide behind fighting for their political rights to engage in violent protests in any part of the country. Let them sort out their grievances within the law,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will stop them before they get to the roads. We are not afraid of anyone because we are guided by the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kindiki said Kenyans are tired of political activities that disrupt their lives and that political leaders will not be allowed to take to the streets while followed by their goons.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not political. We have seen the same thing happening in Kericho where political leaders incite residents to invade tea farms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have asked residents to record statements and leaders who will be incriminated will be prosecuted. We must have a law-abiding country.\u201d<\/p>\n
