Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Jubilee rebel faction led by EALA MP Kanini Kega and nominated MP Sabina Chege has been barred from acting on behalf of the Jubilee party.<\/p>\n

The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal in a directive to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties has also stopped the outfit’s decision to exit the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.<\/p>\n

“It is hereby ordered that pending hearing and determination of the complaint and application filed herein inter partes, interim conservatory orders are hereby issued restraining all parties hereto and\/or their representatives jointly and severally from issuing any communication and\/or making any public representations on behalf of the Jubilee party, the order by the PPDT reads.<\/p>\n

“…and further staying communication dated 6th and 13th June 2023 issued by the 3rd Respondent and any other communication and or decisions that may have been issued and\/or taken by any of the parties hereto on behalf of Jubilee party during the pendency of these proceedings.”<\/p>\n

On June 6, the pro-President William Ruto Jubilee MPs resolved to exit the Azimio Coalition partnership in a National Executive Committee meeting.<\/p>\n

On June 13, they issued a notice of intent to withdraw from the coalition but the decision now remains suspended.<\/p>\n

The order also bars the Kega side from transacting on behalf of the party.<\/p>\n

The directive by the Desma Nungo-led tribunal also means Kega and his allied leaders cannot proceed with their planned NDC, which is slated for July 22. This is until the matter is heard and resolved.<\/p>\n

The Kega and embattled secretary general Jeremiah Kioni-led factions have been fighting for the heart of the former ruling party.<\/p>\n

The two sides have been operating as two different entities.<\/p>\n

While Kega is pro-Ruto, Kioni is pro-retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n
